The Department of Medicine is committed to providing holistic care and delivering quality health service to our patients. Currently, the Department has 10 subspecialty teams, including Cardiology, Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Geriatric Medicine, Haematology & Haematological Oncology, Nephrology, Neurology, Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology and Infectious Disease, providing diversified services to our patients.

To meet the growing healthcare needs of the community, the Department has actively expanded its services over the years. In 2013, we enhanced the Renal Centre, strengthening both inpatient and day dialysis services for renal patients. In 2015, we began providing training for patients to perform nocturnal home hemodialysis. Additionally, the Haematology-Oncology Ward, dedicated to hematological patients, commenced operations in 2020.

We have implemented various smart hospital initiatives to enhance service quality, including smart medication carts, e-vitals, and smart panels. Since 2021, we have also expanded our telehealth services, which now include teleconsultation, remote patient education, and tele-training for physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

The Department of Medicine, Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital
An autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation centre was established in 2011 for patients with multiple myeloma and poor risk lymphoma, aiming to optimise their treatment outcome.
The E6 Haematology Ward, established in 2019, includes 20 acute haematology beds, which feature autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation beds and protective isolation facilities. The ward offers various cancer treatments, such as cytotoxic drug therapy, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy. It also provides therapeutic apheresis services for patients suffering from thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.
