The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (O&T) provides comprehensive in-patient and out-patient specialist services to the community of Hong Kong East. It also serves as the tertiary referral center for the hospitals in Hong Kong East Cluster.
Scope of Service
- Tertiary referral centre for all hospitals of Hong Kong East Cluster
- Provide 24-hour in-patient service including emergency operative service, consultation support and trauma management as part of the PYNEH Trauma team.

Specialist treatment to elective orthopaedic conditions under various subspecialty teams, including:
- Adult Joint Reconstructive Surgery (e.g. Joint replacement surgery, Reconstructive osteotomy of the hip & knee)
- Foot and Ankle Surgery (e.g. Arthroscopic foot and ankle surgery, Hind foot reconstruction surgery, Fore foot reconstruction surgery)
- Hand and Microsurgery (e.g. Hand wrist trauma surgery, Hand and wrist reconstruction surgery, Surgery for rheumatoid arthritis and other seronegative arthritis)
- Paediatric Orthopaedics (e.g. General paediatric orthopaedic problems, Paediatric upper & lower limb fracture management, Cerebral Palsy orthopaedic management)
- Rehabilitation Service (e.g. Orthopaedic trauma rehabilitation service, Complicated wound management and chronic ulcer treatment)
- Spine (e.g. Decompression & stabilization surgery for spinal trauma, Spinal decompression & stabilization for spinal metastasis)
- Sports (e.g. Arthroscopic shoulder surgery, Knee ligaments reconstruction, Shoulder reconstructive surgery)
- Trauma (e.g. Comprehensive geriatric hip fracture management, Minimal invasive fracture management)
- Orthopaedic specialty out-patient clinics
- Collaboration with NGOs in HKEC to provide post discharge service for strengthening exercise and prevention of fall programs.
