The Department of Pharmacy (PHARM) shares the commitment to improve patients’ lives through medicines and care, and serves a
pivotal role in the safe and effective use of medicines. PHARM operates 24-hour a day throughout the year and provides
pharmaceutical care to all in-patients, out-patients including discharged patients, and follow-up patients from Specialist
Out-patient Clinics and The Department of Accident & Emergency.
Since the introduction of clinical pharmacy in 2008, pharmacists are assuming more advanced practice roles in direct patient care and interact with doctors and other health professionals to ensure that the medications prescribed for patients contribute to the best possible health outcomes. In 2013, the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit became the first site in Hospital Authority to meet the most rigorous international cleanroom standards for the preparation of ready-to-use chemotherapy preparations, intravenous nutrition infusions and other sterile injectables and preparations.
