The Department of Psychiatry (PSY) in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) commenced service in 1994. It is the first psychiatric unit established in an Integrated Hospital that can provide acute psychiatric inpatient service for patients detained under Mental Health Ordinance. In addition to the community in Hong Kong East, its service extends to residents in Hong Kong Island and most of the outlying Islands.

PSY has a total of 400 psychiatric beds in East Block of PYNEH. The bed capacity enables us to provide comprehensive service covering patients of different age range, from child & adolescent to elderly. Apart from in-patient service, PSY also offers out-patient service and community care. One of the highlights is that PSY adopts evidence-based practice and collaborate with multidisciplinary specialist so as to deliver the holistic and personalized care to patients.
